Dgs Asap : a D Ecentralized G Rid S Cheduler for a S - S Oon - a S - P Ossible Scheduling

Scheduling of job-requests constitutes one of the most important aspects of grid computing. We propose DGSASAP , a grid scheduler that aims at starting the execution of jobs the soonest possible. DGSASAP is fully decentralized and distributed, based on an inexpensive random peer-to-peer overlay. Currently proposed solutions in literature fail to scale due to their centralized nature or due to the high messaging cost that they imply. Unlike that, simulations of DGSASAP in a grid of 5000 nodes showed that our system can scale to an arbitrary number of nodes in the grid, with a messaging cost that depends only on the intensiveness of the current load in the grid. Any arbitrary node can issue a request and DGSASAP will search to find and allocate computational nodes that span the whole grid.
